about

Dubbest round all bases in full circle influence in their early roots reggae-inspired Color Red debut single “Unusual Times.” Featuring longtime influence, Elliot Martin of John Brown’s Body on vocals, the track was originally composed in 2013 based on a concept that the world is changing at a rapid rate when it comes to technology, social grace, and the dichotomy between input and output that can be simultaneously exciting and confusing. The band calls for listeners to examine the big picture and consider the impact that this make-or-break opportunity can impart on this era in society. Using just two chords to convey the message and dynamics, Dubbest revisited the tune during the pandemic and brought it to life in the studio. The sentiment makes more sense than ever as these are indeed unusual times that we’re living in.

lyrics

We’re living in unusual times but these are our days, yeah
We’re living in unusual times but these are our days, yeah

Well, communication has exploded
and we can see anything we’d ever want before us
A crucial moment in the story
When I can see anything id ever want before me
New generation of explorers
And we can see anything we'd ever want before us
But its a moment in the story
When I can see anything I’d ever want, while...

Our leaders are treating our map like a chess board
Stress for gold pushing us into other places
Wars breaking out in almost every single nation
and why’s everybody so patient?
Tell me why…
Why’s everybody so sure

We’re living in unusual times but these are our days, yeah
We’re living in unusual times but these are our days, yeah

Well, communication has exploded
and we can see anything we’d ever want before us
A crucial moment in the story
When I can see anything id ever want before me
New generation of explorers
And we can see anything wed ever want before us
But its a moment in the story
When we could lose everything we’d ever want
Before we get there…
Before we get there…

Evermore we climbing, river run them away from shore
Deeper we diving cant get no reward
Them man don’t know what he got till it’s gone
Everything glittering we want
So it’s your choice they giving you all the lock and the key
Release the voices hotter energy
Utter madness is the currency
For the love of money lost everything
Before we get there must trod upon the mountain
Only reap where the seed has been planted
Upon the iron it sharpened again
Livity and reality
Now we’re on our way
So what is wrong with the weather?
Oh we consider
Carry the light forward Always a riddle now
Winds are blowing all in motion
The time unusual yeah

We’re living in unusual times but these are our days, yeah
We’re living in unusual times… these crazy unusual times
We’re living in unusual times but these are our days, yeah
We’re living in unusual times…
